An injured baby elephant in Thailand is making a splash!

Wide-eyed five-month-old Fah Jam — which translates to Clear Sky —  is the first elephant to receive hydrotherapy at an animal hospital just outside of Bangkok.

“We named her clear sky up ahead, because that is what she will need while she is with us,” said Kampon Tansacha, the zoo director of Nooch Nooch Tropical Garden where the baby now lives.

Clear Sky lost part of her foot after getting it caught in a snare and vets believe by working with her in the water, they can help her safely strengthen her muscles.

“This is her second time getting water therapy so she is still a bit nervous and scared of the water,” veterinarian Padet Siridumrong told AFP.

Clear Sky has come a long way since becoming separated from her mother in the wild. When she was discovered by villagers she was desperate for milk and required surgery on her bloodied foot.

Since being taken in by the zoo, her wound has healed and she will likely be able to walk again without receiving an artificial leg.

“Usually baby elephants love water,” Siridumrong told the AFP “If she can do this regularly she will have fun.”
