A mother’s money-saving grocery shopping tip is pretty controversial.

Mimi Carter, who runs her family’s TikTok account, recently posted a video that has garnered a-brocc-ximately 4.4 million views and more than 135,900 comments in just four days.

Carter recorded the clip from the produce section of the supermarket, where she captured herself holding broccoli stalks — which she had removed from the heads of florets.

“I am not paying for these,” she declared, tossing them back with the rest of the intact broccoli for sale. “I am only going to pay for what I am going to eat.”

“Snip snip,” she causally captioned the video, which has raced up over 4.4 million views in four days.

Once home, Carter made a follow-up video in which she demonstrated how she either breaks the stalks with her hands at the store or utilizes a pocket knife stuffed into her waistband.

“And I just leave these at the store, okay,?” she said, throwing the stalks at the camera. “Y’all can have it. I don’t need it — wash my hands of it.”

But many viewers were less than impressed by Carter’s tips and chastised her in the comments.

“I take my lemon squeezer since I don’t use the lemon peels,” one mocked.

“Do you peel the bananas too?” another cheekily quipped.

“This is why I always peel my potatoes at the grocery store,” another chimed in.

“I eat in the grocery store to save money,” one other added.

Others gently reminded Carter that her discards are actually quite nutritious.

“Hey funny thing, the stalk is actually healthier than the top..I peel it and cook it with the rest… it’s kinda like artichoke with butter,” one user advised.

“Just throw the stalks back in there for everyone else to wade through and some employee to clean up. No matter as long as you save your 12 cents,” another wrote.

“POV you just saved .7 cents,” another laughed at the hack.

In more veggie tales from this year, a resurfaced interview with Albert R. “Cubby” Broccoli, the first producing co-founder of the “James Bond” movies, revealed that the tree-like vegetable was his family’s creation.
