A Pennsylvania teen mom says she was “very frustrated” when she allegedly punched her crying baby and fractured his skull, according to officials.
Natalia Cordova, 18, of Bethlehem, was charged Wednesday with aggravated assault, reckless endangerment and endangering the welfare of a child, the Morning Call reported.
Authorities were notified after the 7-month-old boy was treated on July 3 at Lehigh Valley Hospital for a skull fracture.
County investigators at the Children and Youth Department said they spoke twice with Cordova who claimed both times that the baby fell off the bed.
In a third interview — this time with Bethlehem police — Cordova admitted to punching infant, saying he had been crying “nonstop” for two hours.
Cordovo told police that she needed help with anger management.
“I know that I hit [the baby] out of anger,” she said, according to the Morning Call. “I also know that I am extremely sorry for my actions.”
The teen was released from jail on $20,000 bail. She is scheduled to appear in court Aug. 15.
