Ho, oh, no.
After a fire alarm went off at a Santa’s Village in England, a distraught St. Nick urged visitors to escape — by tearing off his hat and beard and angrily screaming at them to “get the f–k out!”
The harrowing holiday event took place Sunday at the Corn Exchange building in St. Ives, Cambridgeshire, where a “family-friendly rave” was taking place at the same time, according to The Guardian. You better watch out: When smoke machines set off fire alarms, Santa goes off, too.
He “raged” in front of about 50 kids, offended onlookers said.
Stuart Wilkin, a DJ at the event, told the British news outlet that the poor planning of events is what most likely caused this breakdown. “He probably sat there trying to talk to kids with thumping music playing and was pissed off. The fire alarm going off was probably the final straw for him,” he said.
Parents found Santa’s Grinch-like behavior worrisome. One mom present for the meltdown told Cambridgeshire Live, “People were in the process of vacating the building and in came angry Santa swearing, using the most vile language, ripping off his hat and beard with steam literally coming from his ears. [I’m] not too sure why he was so cross?”
Other parents tried to explain the behavior of this chaotic Claus to their kids by explaining this wasn’t the real Santa, and that this man would be on the naughty list, Cambridgeshire Live reports.
A community Facebook page for St. Ives shared a post from someone at the event that said, “You should be ashamed of yourself acting like that in front of children. There is no way he should be allowed near a child.”
Event organizers agree. Festival Events St. Ives (FESt), the group responsible, released a statement apologizing for their sullen St. Nick: “FESt wish to apologise for any offence or distress caused to parents and children by the attempts to ensure all visitors and staff had exited the building and were safe.”
