A man of many tongues.
Associated Press reporter Philip Crowther has wowed viewers by sharing a mashup of his news broadcasts when he reported from Kyiv, Ukraine, in six different languages.
Crowther is a Washington DC-based reporter who tweeted out the medley of his news clip on Monday.
In his video, he talks about the current Ukraine-Russia conflict in English, Luxembourgish, Spanish, Portuguese, French and German.
Impressed viewers have responded en masse to the viral video, including language education company Duolingo, which wrote, “And the owl was too stunned to speak.”
Another commenter added, “Jealous AF, I can only do three unless you count Latin.”
“Damn polyglot! Kudos and thanks for reporting! Impressive,” another said.
“So, if men want to know what is attractive to women, show them this clip,” a user stated.
Crowther’s post has since amassed over 122,000 likes and 20,000 retweets.
According to Crowther’s “About” page on his personal website, he is an International Affiliate reporter for the AP and is a native of Luxembourg.
Crowther speaks English, Luxembourgish, Spanish, Portuguese, French and German. Courtesy of @PhilipinDCHe was born in the tiny Western European country to a British father and German mother. He soon moved to London to complete his university coursework.
Crowther received his bachelor’s degree in Hispanic Studies from King’s College London as well as a postgraduate diploma in Broadcast Journalism from the London College of Communication.
Before coming to the States in 2011, he was an anchor at France 24 in Paris, covering events in Ghana, Angola, South Africa, Germany, the UK and the revolution in Libya.
