Forget about a political revolution — Bernie Sanders once wanted a sexual revolution, even suggesting that young women who abstain from sex are more likely to get cancer.

Sanders laid out the wacky theory in an article in 1969.

Before getting involved in politics, Sanders wrote for the Vermont Freeman and in one column cited studies showing some women who got breast cancer were “inhibited sexually.”

“It means, very bluntly, that the manner in which you bring up your daughter with regard to sexual attitudes may very well determine whether or not she will develop breast cancer,” Sanders wrote at the time.

Sanders’ campaign did not return e-mails for comment on the article.
