A prize-winning French author sparked outrage for declaring that women aged 50 or over are “too old” to love.

Yann Moix, who is 50 himself, told Marie Claire France that women his age are “invisible” to him and that he was “incapable” of loving them, according to multiple reports.

“I prefer younger women’s bodies, that’s all. The body of a 25-year-old woman is extraordinary. The body of a woman of 50 is not extraordinary at all,” Moix said, adding that he only dates Asian women.

“It’s perhaps sad and reductive for the women I go out with but the Asian type is sufficiently rich, large and infinite for me not to be ashamed.”

Moix, who was spotted accompanying actor Gérard Depardieu on a surprise trip to North Korea in September, was promoting his new book, “Breaking Up,” when he made the comments.

Journalists, politicians and the former French first lady blasted Moix on social media for his statements.

“Very classy Yann Moix. Very very classy. But like stupidity and vulgarity have no age, it’s reassuring in his case as I doubt many women want (these qualities),” wrote French assemblywoman Olivia Grégoire.

Former first lady and journalist Valérie Trierweiler posted an image of a cover of the magazine Charlie Hebdo showing a topless woman with the words “F–k the macho” written on her chest.

Others shared images of Hollywood celebrities close to the age of 50 like Halle Berry and Jennifer Aniston to counter his comments.

On Tuesday, Moix, who has won many literary awards in France, responded to critics by telling RTL radio his preferences in women were his business and he was only being honest.
