He’s really sweating this relationship.
A young man confessed to the internet that he’s struggling to come to terms with his 19-year-old girlfriend collecting — and keeping — more than 50 sweatshirts from other guys. Redditor ILOVEWAFFLESANDTEA revealed that the surprise stash “rubs [him] the wrong way” and is putting a damper on their dating life.
“We lived 5 hours apart and I just moved to her city this week, so this is my first time being at her house,” the user, also 19, told subscribers to Reddit’s “Dating Advice” community, adding that his significant other is the most “amazing, beautiful and kindest girl [he] ever met, with great personality to tie it all together.”
Things took a turn, however, after the young man — who met the girl four months ago and had been invited to stay at her house for two weeks — was told to throw his threads into the girlfriend’s closet. That’s where he made the shocking discovery.

Getty Images/iStockphoto“The closet is kind of big and confusing (this is to say I wasn’t snooping) so while looking for my clothes I found a section of what I’d say was easily 50 if not more hoodies, very obviously men’s hoodies all neatly hung in a closed off section,” he wrote. “That moment felt so surreal I didn’t know what to make of what I was seeing, my mind went from is she cheating, to maybe she collects them, to who [expletive] needs this many hoodies?”
Despite being panicked, the young Romeo said he maintained a cool and collected demeanor when it came time to talk with the comely clothesmonger.
“Her explanation was that this last summer, her best friend and her made a ‘game’ to get as many guys’ hoodies as possible, just for fun,” he wrote. “She said she never had anything with them and it was [only] for their entertainment.”
A distraught-looking man, much like the guy who discovered his girlfriend has a massive collection of sweatshirts from other men. Getty ImagesHe confessed to being weirded out and asked his lady if she’d get rid of her collection. She agreed and promptly moved on “as if nothing happened,” according to the Reddit user. But all those drawstrings still tugged on his mind.
“I don’t think she had something going on with 50 guys this summer, but it kind of rubs me the wrong way,” he added. “I can’t stop thinking about what really happened and if she’s telling me the truth.”
The man said he has now become distant toward the athleisure appreciator, to the point where “she keeps asking what she did wrong. I don’t have a clear answer.”
The guy’s friends are “split” on whether or not he should “dump her” or walk back his request for her to get rid of the offending articles.

“I’d make a mental note and just try to look past it,” wrote The_Sherpa.
“We all did something cringe worthy that seemed funny at the time around that age. I’d chalk this up to harmless but stupid fun,” said EngineeringDry7999.
Others saw the quirky collection as a gigantic red flag.
“You don’t ‘borrow’ 50 sweatshirts,” warned kellykebab. “Clearly, the majority were from hook-ups. Now I’m no family psychologist, but dozens of hookups at 19 indicates potential self-esteem and/or attachment issues. To put it mildly.”
