Romance was in the air when Len met up with Jennifer at Midtown’s Chado sushi, where the two shared stories and even doled out some relationship advice to a fellow diner. As the evening came to a close, Len, a 30-year-old actor, surprised the 26-year-old design assistant with a red rose. But was it Len’s romantic gesture that made Jennifer smile . . . or was she just happy the date was over?

He said:

My first impression of Jennifer was that she was way out of my league. Once we settled in and started talking, though, I realized we had a lot in common and there might be potential for a connection. We’re both creative types — I’m an actor and she’s into design and fashion — and we talked about how we both came to New York to pursue our dreams. Through it all, her personality really came out; she’s nice with a bit of spice, which I like.

At one point, a guy came out of nowhere and started asking for advice on whether he should pursue a woman he works with. I think he thought we were dating experts, but he lingered for way too long and couldn’t take a hint that we wanted him to leave. At the end of the night, I asked for Jennifer’s number and gave her a rose. Hopefully something more will develop.

She said:

I didn’t know anything beyond Len’s name; when we were intoduced, he seemed very quiet. I ended up doing a lot of the talking.

When he asked about my job, he started reading the menu as if he was uninterested in my response, which I didn’t like. If you ask a question, listen to the answer.

Len also seemed uncomfortable in front of the camera, which I found ironic since he’s an actor. I, on the other hand, enjoyed playing around with the photographer.

Even though dating Len is not something I want to pursue, I had a nice time. Once he opened up a little bit, we did find things in common but there wasn’t any spark. He’s a great guy who even gave me a rose at the end of the night, so I wish him luck on future dates.
