We sent Kimbre, a 26-year-old actor and singer, and Thomas, a 28-year-old sales associate at a camping store, to Zutto, a Japanese American pub in TriBeCa. The duo shared great sushi and discussed their common love of getting out of the Big Apple. But does Tom fancy a move to the West Coast more than he fancies Kimbre?
She said:
When Tom first arrived, I was struck by how tall he was. He brought me a flower, which automatically won him bonus points. On top of that he was sweet and had a great laugh, which I found incredibly charming.
We bonded over the awkwardness of blind dates and we seemed to have a lot of similar personality traits. We also love getting away from the fast-paced city.
We traded numbers, but I’m not sure we’re going to see each other again. Tom is planning a move out West, while I just got here. Also, he just didn’t seem that interested in me. Oh well, other fish in the sea, right?
He said:
I was a little nervous — especially since I only knew my date’s hair color. She, on the other hand, knew all about me, so it left me a bit stumped about how to start the date. We broke the ice over our shared love of food, and everything went well from there.
The setting was great, too. The staff was really knowledgeable, and we ended up sharing some great sushi.
Kimbre seemed like a really open and creative person, with a fresh take on the city, which I liked a lot.
Overall, though, she’s not really for me. She’s really into the city right now, and I want to move West where there are great camping woods. We ended the night with a hug and traded numbers. I genuinely hope we keep in touch — as friends.
