This could have ended a lot worse.

Fortune smiled upon photographer Scott Davis when he snagged a “Jaws”-like shot that Steven Spielberg wouldn’t dare recreate.

Davis, 50, was leading a boat tour off the coast of South Africa when they spotted an unlikely model flashing its razor-sharp pearly whites for his camera.

“The great white shark poked its head out of the water for a closer look at what was going on and was a mere inches away from my camera — his teeth were very impressive!” Davis tells Caters News Agency.

Years before this impromptu modeling shoot, the Monterey, Calif., resident and former marine biologist had studied the fierce predator off the Pacific coast of the US.

“For me, great white sharks have always been a source of endless fascination and to spend time with them is always special,” Davis said.

As for the tour group, they’re probably glad to have come up smiling after their shark bait prospects.
