I was unable to find any parents who have received tickets for not using car seats, but it seems the NYPD is enforcing the rules mandating that kids are properly buckled up.

Citations for failure to use a car seat spiked 55 percent this year, and under a new state law that just went into effect kids are required to use booster seats until age eight.

“Ticket us, please,” was predictably the refrain from parents we spoke to in Park Slope. And who can argue that parents should be penalized for jeopardizing their kids’ safety. I do worry that soon, children will be forced to sit in car seats until their mid 30s.
