Sick of pinching pennies? Maybe you need to switch jobs.
Glassdoor, a jobs-posting and -reviewing Web site, recently surveyed American workers to see who hauled in the biggest paychecks this past year.
And — shocker! — poets and philosophers didn’t make the grade.
Those who really are bringing in the bacon are physicians, who notched the No. 1 spot with a median salary of $180,000. Trailing behind were lawyers ($144,500) and research and development managers ($142,120). By way of comparison, the mean income in America in 2014, as reported by the Bureau of Labor Statistics, was $47,230.
The rest of Glassdoor’s report is a roll call of staid occupations: tax managers, data scientists and pharmacists.
But can higher salaries buy happiness?
In a separate survey, Glassdoor found that the biggest drivers of job satisfaction are strong company values and trustworthy bosses — not fat wallets.
