He’s the Birdman of India!
For the past decade, 62-year-old Sekhar has been waking up at 4 a.m. to feed thousands of wild parakeets from his rooftop in southern India.
Sekhar takes care of three injured parakeets at his house on Sep. 23.Barcroft IndiaAs many as 4,000 birds visit him daily in the city of Chennai — feasting on rows of rice he dishes out on wooden planks.
“When I see the birds flying joyously, my eyes well up,” he told Barcroft Media.
He started feeding just a few feathered friends, but word quickly spread about his snack sanctuary.
“Two parakeets brought 10 more,” he said. “It then started to multiply to 50, 100 and soon thousands began to flock to this place.”
Sekar, who works as a camera technician during the day, spends about half of his daily $13 paycheck on bird feed.
