Beyoncé wasn’t the only hottie to score a touchdown at the Super Bowl.
NFL referee Clete Blakeman presided over the Denver Broncos’ 24-10 win over the Carolina Panthers Sunday night in Santa Clara, Calif., and while the game itself was a snooze fest, Blakeman’s rugged good looks set Twitter ablaze with the trending hashtag #cleteblakeman.
Both football and non-football fans alike praised his athletic 6-foot-1 physique and rallied for a Blakeman NFL calendar.
But the 51-year-old official is more than just eye candy. Blakeman was a quarterback for the Nebraska Cornhuskers from 1984 to 1987. The Norfolk, Neb., native started his officiating career in the Big 12 conference before moving on to the NFL as a field judge in 2008, and has been donning the uber-fitted black-and-white referee polo since 2010.
He also might be Peyton Manning’s lucky charm: Sunday night marked the Broncos’ sixth consecutive win with Blakeman as the presiding referee.
