It’s the ultimate meet-cute.
In 1999, Logan Andrews and Allison Wolfe met as babies at Boston Children’s Hospital, where both newborns were battling dangerous heart conditions. Andrews was there with hypoplastic left heart syndrome while Wolfe had Tetralogy of Fallot. Both infants survived.
17 years later, they are adorable prom dates.
It was 16-year-old Andrews’ plan, reports Caters News.
Logan and his mom, Elizabeth Standafer, who now live in North Carolina, sent Wolfe a teddy bear with the message: “I know it’s been awhile since we’ve seen each other, but it would do my heart good if you would go to prom with me.”
Wolfe, 17, happily accepted, and drove 19 hours to North Carolina with her family to attend the dance.
“We were in the hospital for months,” said Amy Wolfe, Allison’s mother. “We kept in touch over the years, but as our families live so far apart it was hard to see each other.”
“If you would’ve told me this would be what would happen 17 years ago, I just wouldn’t have believed it,” she added.
However, Amy does believe that her daughter and Logan’s childhood experience has given them a special, lifetime bond.
“Logan told me only Allison knows what he is thinking in his heart,” she said.
The loving friendship has not escalated to romance — yet.
“They are definitely just friends at the moment. They can both be shy. But who knows in the future?”
