The hippopotamus is one of the most dangerous animals in the world, but one gray heron is either too dumb or too brave to care about the hippo’s deadly ways.

The courageous, if reckless, bird in question is mysteriously standing straight up while gliding over a pond in South Africa’s Kruger National Park in this video taken back in 2012.

The nonchalant bird bobs its head into the water and squawks  like nothing was out of the ordinary as it glides across the water as if pulled by an invisible force.

But then two eyes emerge from the water, followed shortly thereafter by the body of a full-grown hippo, who turns toward the bird and then swims on.

Apparently the hippo cared about the heron about as much as the heron cared about the hippo.
