Next time you’re fighting for fresh air to breathe at London’s Heathrow and wondering, why so crowded, think of these words:

“68 million passengers will fly through Heathrow this year in aging

terminal facilities designed to accommodate around 45 million.”

— Tony Douglas, Chief Executive Officer of BAA Heathrow

Pretty wild. Though, admit it — there’s something quite appealing about the atmosphere — the entire world crammed in to a couple sad buildings out by the M25. Makes JFK, with its many terminals, seem about as peppy as Des Moines.

By the way – Douglas words were lifted from statement made yesterday announcing that the famous/infamous (depending on how close you live to the project site) fifth terminal will be open in one year. Expect it to fill to capacity and then go over quite quickly.
