An international flight that costs less than a pumpkin spice latte?

It’s possible: Airfares for flights from South Korea to Japan are as low as $8.38, according to CNN.

The number of passengers traveling between the two East Asian nations is plummeting as trade and security disputes heighten.

CNN found a one-way flight from South Korea’s capital, Seoul, to the southern Japanese city of Fukuoka cost as little as 10,000 South Korean won ($8.38) on budget carrier Eastar Jet. The return flight clocked in at a mere 1,000 Japanese yen ($9.35).

Upon checkout, when taxes and fuel surcharges are added, the total airfares on Seoul-based Eastar Jet jump to about $70.

Still, the Nikkei Asian Review reports, that’s a 60 to 80 percent drop from a year ago.

And prices for the same flights have totaled hundreds of dollars in past years, CNN said.

It’s even more unusual to see low fares out of South Korea in September — thanks to a holiday called Chuseok, or “Korean Thanksgiving,” when many residents have time off and travel. Chuseok falls on Sept. 13 this year.
