Artist Robert Lenz (who’s probably better known as the retired chairman and executive creative director at ad agency Backer Spielvogel Bates) and his wife, Carol, are auctioning their Litchfield County estate in Connecticut on Thursday, Nov. 17, with Platinum Luxury Auctions.

The six-bedroom, 7,202-square-foot home, built in 2000, sits on 42 acres.

It was last asking $10.9 million, and now has an auction reserve price of $2.75 million.

The Lenz family bought the property as an empty, wooded lot and built the home as a labor of love.

The architect, who had studied under Frank Lloyd Wright, incorporated natural elements into the property — such as stone from the site to create the home’s foundation, exterior, fireplaces and fences.

Wood was hand-cut, milled and dried on site for the floor planks and exposed beams.
