San Francisco-based Joie de Vivre Hospitality, that sprawling group which you may remember from such hotels as the romantic Hotel Drisco perched atop Pacific Heights to the excellently affordable Petite Auberge on Nob Hill is at it again.
JDV’s latest mission is drawing attention back to the city’s Japantown neighborhood, which in recent years seemed to have taken a little bit of a back seat. They’ve stepped in at the Best Western Miyako over there, re-launching as the Hotel Tomo.
It’s still a Best Western, but now its all anime this, mural that, gaming this and shabu shabu that. Reservations available as of this morning. I like the rate of $101.50/night I got through Best Western for a 72 hour stay.
