Here’s an interesting bit of reportage (via NewYorkology) — the average nightly rate for a hotel in New York City has dipped below $200. Just. But there you have it. Such deals you haven’t seen in, oh, well, since long before many of of the hotels offering deals were built. Check it. Feel like running away from home for a night? You can stay in the Village for as little as $79, in one of those little roomlets (shared bath) at The Jane (pictured above.) Rates will go up in September city-wide, as business picks up a little. Now’s the time.
