If you’ve never been to Kansas City, well, too bad for you. What you’re missing: Great architecture, fun people, jazz history, nice museums, one of the Midwest’s coolest neighborhoods (Crossroads Arts District, south of Downtown) and, of course, that famous bbq.

Oklahoma Joe’s is famous for operating out of a KCK (that’s Kansas City, Kansas for all you laypeople out there) gas station. It’s also famous for pulled pork, and other things bbq related.

Pictured above are: Smoked ham and Carolina-style pulled pork sandwiches, seasoned fries and amazing onion rings. Not pictured – solid beans and coleslaw. Plus, a vat of their own BBQ sauce, which is thick and slightly sweet and perfect. Purists may balk, but I loved it.
