An 8-year-old boy from Russia ran away from home to “travel around the world,” according to a note he left his worried mother.

The boy’s mom, from Astrakhan, called police after finding the note. Officials located the boy, who is not being publicly identified, hours later, the Russian Interior Ministry reported this week.

The boy was unharmed but told police he was already tired from his globetrotting after riding three buses and walking around.

Police said they found him walking down the street with his piggy bank, three encyclopedias, a toy, and a banana, should he get hungry on his journey.

Following the ministry’s reporting, social media went wild for the story.

“An eight-year-old boy from Astrakhan undertakes a round-the-world-trip by foot. Whereas I complain when I have to travel across town,” one Twitter user joked.

Others nicknamed him after the Russian explorer Fyodor Konyukhov, “known for his solo expeditions,” the BBC reported.

One private language school commended the boy’s spirit and offered to “teach the young explorer from Astrakhan English for free for a full year.”
