Okay, so apparently, such a thing exists that allows those of us with nonfunctioning wireless cards to hook in to a wireless network. Such a thing, I believe, is called a wireless bridge.

I now have one, thanks to the kind staff at my hotel, who brought it up and plugged me in today. It is something I should very much like to purchase.
