It’s one hull of a ship.
The Seven Seas Explorer, which cost $450 million to build, is the world’s most expensive luxury cruise liner. The boat weighs 54,000 tons, stretches over two football fields and carries 750 guests.
Christened last summer in Monaco, the elaborate vessel is the subject of a PBS Nova documentary, “Ultimate Cruise Ship,” airing Wednesday at 9 p.m.
Builders decked the ship out in gold, marble and original Picasso paintings, and it features a teak-ringed pool, eight restaurants and six lounges.
And although the cruise liner is massive, it has a one-to-one crew-to-passenger ratio, and every room includes a balcony. Its most luxe accommodation is the 4,443-sqaure-foot Regent Suite, which has two bedrooms and an in-room spa treatment.
Of course, living the suite life will cost you a pretty penny — fares range from $6,000 to $55,000 for a 10-day cruise. The all-inclusive tickets include food, alcohol and staff gratuities and even round-trip airfare.
The next 10-day voyage departs on Valentine’s Day, when the ship will sail from Miami to Santo Tomás de Castilla, Guatemala, and back.
