Cruise ships typically bring up images of all-inclusive buffets, tourists sporting white linen pants and vistas overlooking the Caribbean. But in the past few years, tour operators have created super-niche cruises to cater to travelers who are looking for more than just a relaxing seaside voyage.

  • Knitting Cruise

    On this 28-day excursion, you’ll be floating across the Pacific while mastering the art of knitting. The itinerary features dying yarn at a local wool company in Hanokka, Hawaii. Passengers will also get to hang out with rabbits and learn how Hula bunny yarn is made at a nearby farm. You’ll also be able to take daily knitting classes while enjoying the sights of French Polynesia.

    Shake your tail feather off at this Zumba-themed cruise, which features a dance party every morning, afternoon and evening throughout the five-day excursion. Sure, Zumba may not be as an intense of an exercise as, say, Cross Fit, but travelers who are looking to tone up for the new year can try a variety of Zumba classes involving, water, weights and core workouts taught by 50 instructors.

    Even HGTV bros Jonathan and Drew Scott are cashing in on the cruise industry with their own specialty trip, called “Sailing with the Scotts.” Their inaugural cruise last December was sold out and passengers got to hang out with the reality star duo at a ’70s Disco Dance party, a design workshop and day of competitive beach games. “We love our fans and this is our chance to hang out with you for five days in the sun,” Drew told People. A tour date for their 2019 cruise has yet to be announced.

  • Cat cruise

    Strangely enough, you can’t bring your own kitten at this cat-themed cruise. However, guests will get to participate in group dining, cocktail mixers and trivia nights with fellow cat lovers. And guests will be able to print their pets’ faces onto custom T-shirts onboard.
