
LIVEBLOG: Paris on strike

In case transit strikes get you excited, here are a couple of Paris shots from a couple hours ago. If you’re headed in this direction any time soon, bring walking shoes!
Gridlock by the department stores — I have seen traffic in Paris, but many busy intersections have cars going every which way, India-style – one of those move forward in whichever direction you can, sort of deals. The noise, of course, is deafening.
Gare du Nord. The time, 530pm. Where is everyone? Oh, that’s right. No trains to catch today. Unless you’re trying to leave the country. (So it’s not all bad news).
