Papua New Guinea is turning away all visitors from Asia in a drastic measure to prevent the coronavirus from entering the Pacific nation, according to a report.

The nation’s Immigration and Citizenship Authority said Tuesday that “all operating airliners and passenger vessels bringing in passengers from any Asian ports will be refused entry,” CNN reported.

It was not immediately clear what specific nations were banned.

National Airport Corporation spokesperson Emma Kuamuanj said the ban will effective until further notice, the report said.

The country has also shut down the Indonesian border post at Wutung, suspended its visa program and enforced mandatory thermal screenings for all returning travelers, the outlet report.

The country has no confirmed cases of the deadly virus, which emerged last month in Wuhan, China.
