Colorado is skiing. As of today, Arapahoe Basin is open. It’s the first slope in the U.S. to crank up the lifts for the 2006-2007 season, beating out little Loveland, which generally tends to open right about now. (They say “soon.”)

Meanwhile, back east, Buffalo and Southwestern Ontario are digging out from under nearly 2 feet of snow. Does this mean that Holiday Valley, south of town in Ellicottville, is open?

Nope. They’re still planning Nov. 24.
