Folks were getting cocky here back east, with early dumps providing ski resorts with some serious snow, very early in the game. It was getting kind of ridiculous: Even West Virginia’s most popular hill, Snowshoe, had a whomping seven feet to play in. Fast forward to now: It’s almost fifty degrees there. That’s a lotta slush, Brandine!

For now, Colorado is heaving sighs of relief. Snow, they’ve got. Telluride had nearly eight feet of it in December, which is a lot, even for them. It’s a record, actually. They now have 143 inches – nearly 12 feet – so far this season.

The details are murky, but the resort insists that they have rates as low as $119 per person, through January, on ski & stay packages. Call (800) 778.8581 for details. Also, because they care, they offer a handy guide to finding affordable airfare. This is helpful, seeing as getting to Telluride is, to put it mildly, a pain in the tuchis.
