Nobu, the famed sushi empire from Michelin-starred chef Nobuyuki Matsuhisa, just opened its largest outpost in the world — not in Tokyo, LA or London, but in the emerging Middle East capital of Doha.
Chef NobuHandoutThe glamorously mod three-story restaurant, designed by the NYC-based Rockwell Group, is part of the Doha Four Seasons and floats on its own mini-island in the Arabian Gulf, rising like a coiled shell crossed with a starship from the future.
Along with its soaring main dining room, it boasts three lounges, including a sprawling rooftop bathed in purple accent lighting. Chef Nobu’s beloved Japanese-meets-South America fare (black miso cod, pumpkin-chip foie gras, sushi for days) is on offer, along with local-catch fish and spices (think: sea bass with mint salsa) and internationally inspired cuisine and design.
