Are you ready to check in at the fl-otel?

By 2100, The Union of Concerned Scientists predicts that average sea level will rise up to 78 inches from its current height — but thankfully, we now have floating hotels to combat that threat.

Serbia-based Salt & Water design studio has created a fleet of floating catamaran apartments to promote tourism on landlocked bodies of water. The plans recently won the Millennium Yacht Design Award, an international competition for yacht designers.

In their designs, Salt & Water crafted a hotel consisting of a floating central unit, which then connects to 12 pods via a network of docks.

Each catamaran includes a living room, small galley, bathroom, lofted bedroom and storage space. They accommodate between two and four people.

The catamarans can be easily separated from the dock and navigated, allowing hotel guests to choose where they’d like to spend the day. The dock can be accessed for watersports such as swimming, diving, fishing and sunbathing.

Salt & Water designed the floating hotel with the idea that users can have uninterrupted views of nature.

The catamarans can connect via a dock to the central unit, where guests can check in and interact with other vacationers. The central unit also houses a restaurant, event hall, offices for staff and a cafe.
