The garbage crisis in Naples — the second in a year — is now affecting the island of Sardinia.

Home to the tony and exclusive Costa Smeralda, which, on any given day in winter is a Who’s Who of See/Be Seens, Italian officials have been barging Napolitano rubbish to the island as a quick solution, saying there’s very little else they can do with it.

Suffice to say, the Sardinians are not smiles times, and the regional governor ended up with piles of trash on his front stoop as part of a rather heated protest that led to arrests.

So, if you’re, say, Denzel Washington and happen to be spending a leisurely week at the Cala di Volpe, now you know what’s happening beyond your front door. No need to say thanks. We like to be helpful.
