It isn’t the first hotel with this view, but it’s the best hotel with this view. The Hotel Vitale is right on the Embarcadero, across from the Ferry Building, at the foot of Market Street, adjacent to the turnaround of the F tram line. Highly recommend this place. Very zen, very quiet. Got some big buzz when it opened more than two years ago. This room, 608, goes for $359 in late August. Pro: Lying in bed and watching the bridge traffic at night. Con: Everyone waiting in line for the Alameda/Oakland ferry gets a free show if you change without closing the curtains. Then again, is that exactly a con? I suppose that’s for the people getting the free show to decide.
