It wasn’t just the fireworks lighting up the sky Thursday night.

Helicopters swarmed the skies of lower Manhattan, annoying grounded New Yorkers — but giving a select few a spectacular view of the Macy’s Fourth of July fireworks display.

Tempers flared as unhappy fireworks watchers took to Twitter to complain about the mosquito-esque disturbance, which took flight about 10 minutes before the 25-minute pyrotechnics show ignited at 9:20 p.m.

The Post’s own Karol Markowicz tweeted, “There are so many helicopters circling over the fireworks in NYC that it’s like an alien invasion.”

Fellow tweeter Daniel Avery added that he was “trying to see the NYC fireworks from Park Slope. But for now, just helicopters.”

Among the choppers disrupting the views were those operated by “photo flight” company FlyNyon — the same company that sold tickets to the five victims killed in 2018’s Fly Liberty Helicopters crash in the East River.

The exclusive front-row seats went for $1,199 a person.

Early Thursday, FlyNyon shared promotions for discounted fireworks rides, as well as Instagram stories of their joyrides. One, from company general manager Tyler Wood, boasted that “every bird” was “ready to chirp for fireworks,” panning to a runway full of helicopters.

“With 360-degree views of multiple fireworks displays at once, last night FlyNyon customers had an unparalleled view of the tristate area on July 4th,” a company spokesperson tells The Post. “Viewing July 4th from a FlyNyon flight offers one of the safest, most exciting and memorable ways to enjoy New York and celebrate America — it really is July 4th fireworks viewing taken to a whole new level.”
