A Ukrainian soldier and his girlfriend have gone viral on TikTok after he proposed to her in a sandbag-filled street in Odessa — mere days before Russian forces started attacking the city.
The clip — which was filmed on March 28, 2022, according to Jam Press — shows the couple walking toward each other in the middle of the street lined by stacks of sandbags.
After hugging each other, the soldier drops to his knee and pops the question.
His new fiancée appears stunned for a few moments before bending down and kissing him.
The Ukrainian flag can be seen flying in the background as he puts the ring on her finger and brings her several flowers.
Several users gave the couple their congratulations and best wishes.
“I wish you many years of a married life in a peaceful Ukraine,” one user said.
“May you be safe and victorious! congratulations! May you have long and beautiful life together,” another said.
