One Costco air fryer almost cooked up more than a few frozen treats.

Abbey Trbovich was air frying some hashbrowns in her college apartment when suddenly, the fryer exploded.

The 20-year-old Michigan State University student had placed the appliance on top of her electric stove — and accidentally turned on the burner — causing the combustion.

The explosion ruined both the air fryer and stove, requiring about 10 firefighters to come to the rescue. While no one was injured, there was certainly a mess.

Trbovich shared the aftermath on TikTok in a video that went viral, racking up more than 6.5 million views, nearly 600,000 likes and over 6,000 comments and 27,000 shares.

“When our Costco air fryer blows up in our apartment,” read the caption in the video.

She bought her Gourmia air fryer from Costco the same week, excited to use it — only for it to go awry.

In the video, she showed the unrecognizable air fryer, just a heap of melted, mangled metal, and the stove, which wasn’t in good condition either.

The Gourmia air fryer manual warns users to not “place on or near a hot gas or electric burner” to ensure user safety — something this student will remember for good.
