A child in a 1941 photo appears to be holding an iPad — and viewers are shocked.
The picture, taken by Farm Security Administration photographer Edwin Rosskam, captured a group of people of color standing on line to enter a movie theater on Chicago’s South Side.
While the photo may be inconspicuous at first glance, some wildly imaginative viewers have claimed the snapshot is proof of time travel due to one minor detail.

While the photo may be inconspicuous at first glance, some imaginative viewers claim the snapshot is proof of time travel for one curious reason. Glasshouse Images/ShutterstockSome commenters zoomed in on a boy standing at the far right of the frame, holding what they claimed looks like a popular Apple product that wasn’t released until 2010.
“Bottom line, the kids are adorable and proud to be who they are BUT how is the first kid in line holding an Apple iPad in 1941,” someone snarked on Reddit. “Time for the theme from ‘The Twilight Zone.'”
“Is that kid in line bringing in an iPad?” another also asked.
However, most viewers were quick to shut down this outlandish claim, insisting that the item could not be an electronic tablet because they were not yet invented and time travel has yet to be proven.
Rather, the boy was carrying what was most likely a book, Bible, notebook or leather-bound diary.

AppleCommenters additionally complimented the folks in the photo, many of whom were young children, for their impeccable outfits.
“They all are dressed so nicely. To wear your Sunday best to see the movies, it must have been a fantastic treat,” someone wrote.
“Part of me wishes we would all dress up like that for the little things, and then I debate if I am even going to shower today,” another said.
“Look at them, they’re suited and booted looking mighty fine,” one more proclaimed.
