It was holding on for deer life.
Dramatic video posted to Twitter shows a Lexington, Kentucky, police officer saving a deer from an in-ground swimming pool.
“You never know what a day on patrol will bring!” the department wrote on its account.
After arriving at the harrowing scene, footage shows the conked-out animal — likely suffering from hypothermia — with its front hoofs slouched over the edge of the pool.
The officer attempts to pull the soaked doe out of the drink, but the watery rescue proves too taxing, so he calls for backup.
“I’ve just got one foot off the edge,” the cop tells his partner. “Just don’t slip in!”
Thankfully, the deer regains consciousness and is saved after the officers lifted the animal over the pool’s edge.
“Well, she’s good!” the officer says as the critter gallops into the woods.
The original Twitter video ends with a slow-motion, instant replay of the deer’s return to nature with musical accompaniment by Celine Dion’s “My Heart Will Go On.”
