Moms in wealthier neighborhoods are more likely to breastfeed than those in less affluent areas, according to a Health Department report.
The study issued Friday found that moms in low-poverty communities were 1.6 times more likely to exclusively breastfeed for the first five days of their baby’s life than were mothers in less well-off environs.
Breastfeeding decreases the likelihood of medical complications, health officials say.
