The president of Costa Rica swallowed a wasp in the middle of a local TV interview — but calmly gulped down the unexpected snack while correctly predicting that the video would go viral.

“You don’t see that every day — they’re going to send it to CNN!” President Luis Guillermo Solis Rivera said, per the Daily Mail.

The video shows Solis barely missing a beat after the bug flies into his mouth. He looks slightly startled as he swallows the stinger mid-sentence, then announces with a laugh that it was “pure protein.”

“I ate it. I ate the wasp,” he says.

An aide then handed the leader a bottle of water, and he continued on with the interview — which was about a new asphalt plant, according to Q Costa Rica.
