A Jabba the Hutt-like blob that washed up on an Indonesian beach is leaving both locals and the internet baffled.

The 50-foot-long mystery animal carcass was spotted Tuesday by Asrul Tuanakota, 37, of Seram Island in the Indonesian province of Maluku, the International Business Times reported.

At first, he thought the monstrosity on Hulung Beach was a stranded boat, until the thing appeared to be bleeding profusely. It is believed it had been dead for at least three days before being found.

Some fishermen believe the creature was a giant squid, while others speculated it was a giant octopus.

But a coordinator of the country’s Marine and Coastal Resources Management said it could be a whale.

Some samples of its body were taken to be analyzed in a lab, coordinator M. Nasrul Latulanit said.
