A kangaroo was killed at a zoo in China and another injured after being pelted by tourists with bricks — in a bid to see them hop, a report says.

The marsupials were targeted on two separate occasions, with the most recent incident coming in March.

They had been minding their own business inside their enclosures at Fuzhou Zoo in Fuijian province when visitors started egging them on and hurling the bricks at them, according to the Agence France-Presse.

Local media, including China Central television, said one was a 12-year-old female and the other was a 5-year-old male.

The female was nailed in the foot and severely injured on Feb. 28. She died several days later.

The male also took a brick to the foot — just a few weeks after the first incident — but was only slightly hurt.

According to AFP, tourists are known to provoke kangaroos regularly at Fuzhou Zoo in the attempt to get them to hop and wake up. It’s unclear if anyone was punished for the two attacks.
