A Louisiana dad got the surprise of his life when the fish he thought he hooked turned out to be a massive alligator.

Lance Burgos was nearing the end of his day-long fishing trip with his 11-year-old daughter at Fausse Pointe State Park in Martinville on Saturday when he decided to try to lift a stray jug line out of the water.

Suddenly, massive gator jaws breach the water’s surface.

The stunned dad quickly drops the line and wisely paddles away — looking behind to make sure the alligator isn’t tailing them.

Burgos uploaded the one-minute video, dubbed “That Is NOT a Catfish on the End of the Line,” to YouTube on Sunday and it has already gotten more than 1.1 million views.

“My daughter and I got back from camp and when we went to bed, we both said, ‘We’re going to have nightmares about this,’” he said.
