WEIRD BUT TRUE
Here’s one for the ‘ex’ files.
Leah and Frank Berlanga have been divorced for two years – but they’re still fighting. Both are running for City Council in Daly City, Calif.
She says he entered the race to intimidate her; he’s not saying anything yet.
Frank was thrown into jail the day after he entered the race – apparently for violating a restraining order she had obtained against him.

Heavily armed U.S. border guards surrounded Canadian Stanley Smith and accused him of being a potential bomb-maker when he tried to enter the country at the Peace Arch crossing in Blaine, Wash.
Turns out security alarms were set off by radioactive dye injected into Smith for a diagnostic scan following a recent heart attack.

Talk about a morals clause!
Mexican men who jilt their brides-to-be at the altar could end up in jail.
A new law passed in Nayarit province makes them liable to arrest.
It also gives their forsaken fiancés the right to sue for monetary compensation, for moral damage.

Now here’s a mammoth undertaking.
Scientists have used sperm extracted from dead mice – stored in a freezer for 15 years – to father healthy offspring via in-vitro fertilization.
They hope to use the same procedure to bring extinct animals back from the dead.
One possibility is injecting frozen mammoth sperm into the eggs of female elephants.

The martinis aren’t all that’s shaken and stirred on the set of the James Bond flick “Casino Royale” – members of the crew are, too.
They’ve refused to board a stunt jumbo jet in Surrey, England, claiming it’s haunted by the spirit of a woman who died on board.
They say lights and warning systems have come on during filming, even though the 747 has no power. And they insist they’ve seen a woman’s ghost gliding up and down the aisles.
Our advice: “Live and Let Die.”
