WEIRD BUT TRUE
Talk about a grave offense.
A brazen burglar who busted into a Florida couple’s home made off with an urn containing the ashes of the couple’s 4-year-old son.
The parents, Eve and Steven Greene, say they don’t care about anything else the thief took, and beseech him to return their son’s remains.
“Just drop it off somewhere with a note on it,” Steven Greene said. “And that’ll be that.”

Looks like this delivery got mislaid.
Supermarket workers in Holland discovered nearly $8 million worth of cocaine stashed in banana boxes that had been shipped to the store.
Authorities said the boxes contained 110 pounds of cocaine worth about $7.8 million.

Don’t mess with moles.
A high-voltage cable that a retired German man had set up to zap moles digging up his yard wound up killing him instead.
There was enough voltage in the set-up to run a cement mixer or heavy-duty power saw, police said.
“The moles survived,” said Stralsund police spokesman Uwe Werner. “It was, in any event, an unorthodox method to try to get rid of moles.”

For some Japanese teens, requesting a fork might hurt their chances of getting into high school.
The Hisatagakuen Sasebo Girls’ High School in western Japan plans to include chopstick skills on its entrance exams. A 10-minute portion of the exam will test students use of chopsticks in transferring beads, marbles, dice and beans from one plate to another.
The move has parents scrambling to buy “training chopsticks” with loops to help applicants to learn to hold the utensils properly.
