Amsterdam’s famed Red Light District held an open house over the weekend, using sex workers as tour guides.
Hundreds gathered to check out its sex clubs and peep shows Saturday.
Promoters staged the tour to counter bad publicity after reports of forced prostitution, human trafficking and organized crime.
“I think the open day is a great idea,” said an erotic dancer named Love at Amsterdam’s Banana Bar.

Ah spring. A rare Black Australian swan nicknamed Petra has fallen madly in love with a plastic paddle boat carved in the form of a swan at a lake in northwestern Germany.
According to biologists in Muenster, Petra has been circling its “lover,” staring endlessly at it and making crooning noises, all the typical signs of a swan in love.
“The swan obviously believes it has found a partner for life,” said zoo director Joerg Adler.

Panama’s top coffee producer brewed 750 gallons in a giant mug in an attempt to make the world’s biggest cup of coffee yesterday.
Café Duran used 300 pounds of coffee to brew the cup, which measured 3 yards by 1.6 yards.
The company will submit its four-hour attempt to Guinness World Records this month.

Two FedEx workers took a nap on a cargo plane stationed in Paris and woke up in Vienna.
The men, who were not identified, were working early Friday at Charles de Gaulle Airport and apparently fell asleep while waiting for a freight delivery that didn’t arrive.
Then the doors closed, and the plane took off for Austria. The two workers, presumably very refreshed, returned home later in the day aboard an Air France flight.

Bulgaria’s cash-strapped health department is using a World Bank loan to buy a fleet of luxury SUVs to serve as ambulances.
Health Minister Radoslav Gaydarski said 32 Porsche Cayennes would be used in remote areas where normal vehicles can’t travel.
Outraged locals said the money could have been better spent.
