WEIRD BUT TRUE
The first rule in cultivating crops is not to overwater them.
But one Connecticut man clearly hadn’t gotten the memo when he was busted for running a massive marijuana-growing operation when cops caught wind of water leaking into a neighbor’s apartment.
New Haven police say the 331 plants were worth $1.6 million on the street.

A Vermont judge facing a jury pool too small to proceed in a case ordered deputies to grab people off the street to serve.

A Chinese man was stunned to find that the “dead” chicken he put in his freezer two days earlier was still alive.
“I heard weak sounds and when I opened the bag a head popped out,” said Gan Shugen.
“It was still warm and when I removed the tape she could stand.”
When he received the chicken from a relative it was in a plastic bag, motionless with its feet bound, so he assumed it was dead.
Gan says he’ll now keep the plucky, unplucked fowl as a pet.

Can a frog give you warts? Some people in a Thai village came to believe one amphibian would give them lottery riches.
The frog’s owner, Tongsai Bamroongtai, says he “knew” his pal was lucky, so villagers started coming to read the skin on the creature’s stomach to look for numbers.
“Ten people subsequently won the lottery, which drew crowds to the house – and then they started losing, so I’ve had to ground her,” Bamroongtai said.
