They ain’t heavy, they’re just twins.

Sean William Maynard and Abigail Rose Maynard weighed a total 23 pounds and 1 ounce when they were born last week at a North Carolina hospital.

Officials at the Sara Lee Center for Women’s Health in Winston-Salem believe the twins are among the heaviest in American history – just shy of the 27-pound, 12-ounce babies born in Arkansas in 1927.

A Michigan woman gave birth to her own twin grandkids after serving as a surrogate mother for her daughter.

Crystal Sirignano, 52, delivered Domenic and his sister, Mia.

Sirignano offered to be a surrogate after her daughter, Kendra, had several failed infertility treatments and surgeries.

Denver cops were called to a filling station to break up an argument between clerks and a penny-pinching driver.

The clerks refused to take $10 in pennies from the driver of a TV satellite truck, sparking a heated argument.

The owner of a tiny island off Scotland declared independence from the United Kingdom.

Stuart Hill, who owns the 2.5-acre island of Forvik in the Shetland Islands in the North Sea, said that he no longer recognized the UK government or the European Union.

Hill lives in a tent as Forvik’s only resident. He plans to create Forvik’s own currency, the “gulde,” print his own stamps and raise his own flag.

Officer Jiang Xiaojuan, 30, left her own baby with her parents and went to earthquake-ravaged areas, where she breast-fed nine babies, orphaned by last month’s disaster.

Jiang was promoted for her efforts and awarded the title of “hero and model police officer.”
